What makes a good HiFi rack?

What makes a good hifi rack?

What is a hifi rack?

Hifi rack is a piece of furniture made to accommodate hifi gear and enhance its overall performance.

We can only ensure this by minimizing (dampening) DISTURBANCES and VIBRATIONS in music playback.

This goal is only achievable by ISOLATING and ABSORBING the disturbances and vibrations mentioned above.

To this end good hifi racks use two techniques DECOUPLING and INSLUATING thus eliminating most of the vibrations and disturbances.

Decoupling is a technique where we reduced the contact surface of the racks as much as possible. And by doing this we also reduce the amount of vibrations transmitted from one media to another.  Here in Myro HiFi Racks we use specially designed high grade stainless steel and brass spikes. Spikes were specially designed to complement the properties of the other elements of the rack with their weight size and material density.

The insulation is a process in which you would typically use insulation material that would dampen and absorb the remaining vibrations not “killed off” by spike decoupling.  For this we at HiFi Furniture are using one of the best insualtion materials known to history - WOOD thus ensuring that that whatever is left off by vibrations that whatever is not decoupled is then absorbed by heavy thick wooden boards. Dampening materials that are used for insulation & absorption should be of relatively low density so it could absorb whatever has remained of vibrations, a task wood is perfectly capable of doing.

The more decoupling and insulation “layers” you have the fewer vibrations you are going to have, but the effects of each new “layer” will be less and less audible. A good HiFi rack should use these techniques in sensible and OPTIMAL manner. Optimizing both material, techniques and volume of ”layers” and all dependent on the systems over-all characteristics.  Also best HiFi Racks should have MODULAR DESIGN making it easy to scale up since we all know Hi End audio is a never ending game, THAT WE SHOULD ENJOY WHILE WE PLAY  J

Here at Myro HiFi Furniture we decided to use only SOLID WOOD in our designs for couple of reasons:

Myro wood HiFi Racks are NATURAL and can HANDLE WEIGHT, wood is material that has been used for centuries in musical reproduction and building construction in all parts of the world. Even though it is not “dead”, it has good dampening qualities compared to steel or glass. And because it is “alive” it adds come character and uniqueness that all the other materials used for HiFi racks do not possess.

Myro wood HiFi Racks are RENEWABLE and DURABLE, and if responsibly resourced future generations will have the opportunity to enjoy the woods and use HiFi racks themselves. Solid wood furniture unlike “dead wood” furniture is more lasting. Generations can treasure it and if willing refurbish it after many years. We find this of importance because we understand that the history will not end with us.

Myro wood HiFi Racks are also STYLISH & ADAPTABLE, and can be easily incorporated in most of the standard living/listening rooms. Most of the furniture is made of wood, speakers most of the time have wood colors and patterns, a good HiFi Rack should fit in with the rest of décor. We have number of colors, styles and woods at our disposal to achieve this also. Also with little or no effort we can customize and make HiFi racks in best spoke size.  By using this MODULAR design we can also make sure that it will be easy to scale up in case this is needed.

One can ask himself do I even need a hifi rack and why not go for the “Mark & Spenser type”?

If you are reading these lines that already suggest that you need one. Our logic is that if you invested your money, time and love into your system than you will need a HiFi rack & speaker stand to enhance its performance, to make most out of it. It just does not seem logical that someone would invest serious amount in HiFi and support it by Ikea.  Also on the other hand we do not think it is sensible to spend few thousands of EUR/USD on a HiFi rack unless you have state of the art HiFi system. Our racks are made for this “middle ground” that most audiophiles occupy.

We know what we produce and that we stand by our words, and this is why we offer 30 days money back guarantee no questions asked for standard sizes, and another two years of legal guarantee for all HiFi racks that we produce.
